A breakthrough in fundraising, Yearbook Films has been awarded full production funding from the Canada Council for the Arts; a milestone that allows the team to move forward with development.
Yearbook’s proof-of-concept short film, titled ‘I Am, For You’, has previously been recognized as a semi-finalist in Outstanding Screenplays – Shorts 2024, in the Screencraft Virtual Pitch Fall 2024, and the Shore Scripts Short Film Fund. Additionally, ‘I Am, For You’ is in the top 1% of scripts on Coverfly.
“11:47 PM, Christmas eve, 2021. We were filming our first short in a suburban Shell Gas Station. No money, no permits, barely a crew, barely a shotgun microphone. In between takes we’d huddle in our heated car, our lead actress and co-founder, Saba Askari’s costume was a skin-tight mini skirt and bra.
